Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join a leading Irish charity during a period of rapid growth. Reporting to the Head of Finance, Legal and Governance, you will oversee all financial operations and ensure robust stewardship of public and donor funds.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory financial statements and manage the annual audit process.
• Oversee complex funding streams, including state funding, grants, and donor income.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and long‑term financial planning.
• Develop and maintain financial controls, policies, procedures and risk‑management frameworks.
• Produce high‑quality financial reports for senior leadership, boards, regulators and external funders.
• Ensure compliance with charity‑specific taxation matters such as VAT and charitable exemptions.
• Manage regulatory and stakeholder reporting requirements for government bodies and SLA funders.
• Lead, develop and motivate the finance team, driving performance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in charity accounting and financial reporting.
• Proven track record managing audits, funding streams and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership experience in a high‑volume finance environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead finance transformation and change initiatives.
