Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function of a leading Irish transport and logistics provider based in Limerick. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will ensure accurate reporting, robust controls and provide commercial insight to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day finance function.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow.
• Monitor financial performance and deliver commercial analysis.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure statutory compliance.
• Oversee year‑end audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
• Partner with operations to analyse fleet, transport and operational costs.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability and business performance.
• Lead and develop the finance team.
• Support continuous improvement and finance system enhancements.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA).
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting and financial reporting background.
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical ability.
• Experience in logistics, transport or distribution is a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
