Fire Protection Mechanical Supervisor

About the role

Mercury is seeking a Fire Protection Mechanical Supervisor to lead the Sprinkler and Fire Protection division on a construction site in Athlone. The role combines site safety, quality assurance and mechanical package management to ensure successful delivery of fire protection systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage site safety in partnership with the Mercury Safety Advisor, including set‑up, maintenance and close‑out of the safety file.
• Oversee mechanical QA processes together with the Mechanical Package Manager, handling documentation from initiation to final hand‑over.
• Coordinate project schedules with other trades, package leads, consulting engineers and the client.
• Control all cost elements for the mechanical package, including subcontractors, material deliveries, plant, equipment, variations and valuations.
• Direct day‑to‑day on‑site operations, supervise subcontractor activities, track progress against schedule and ensure weekly coordination meetings.
• Maintain the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system, issue weekly punch‑list updates and manage O&M manuals, safety and QA files at project close‑out.
• Produce internal weekly progress reports highlighting percentage complete, risks and material delivery alignment.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising fire protection or mechanical works on construction sites.
• Strong understanding of site safety regulations and QA procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors, schedules and cost elements.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, engineers and internal teams.
