Fresh Produce Planner

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Fresh Produce Planner to join Sam Dennigan & co., one of Ireland’s leading fresh‑produce providers. The successful candidate will manage the sourcing, stock control and sales of fruit and vegetable products for both domestic and international markets, ensuring profitability and high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage short‑, medium‑ and long‑term stock levels of fruit and vegetable ranges in a fast‑paced environment.
• Source fresh produce from Irish and overseas suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with product specifications.
• Monitor profitability and balance stock, producing regular rolling‑stock reports.
• Coordinate daily with Quality and Operations teams to optimise efficiency, checking quality, quantity, shelf‑life and waste.
• Forecast demand, handle product complaints and maintain accurate records.
• Develop and maintain relationships with independent customers, driving sales across the company’s customer base.
• Plan and organise transport logistics to ensure timely delivery to warehouses.
• Support senior management in introducing new products and expanding the customer portfolio.

Required profile

• Previous experience in fresh‑produce procurement or a related retail/fresh‑food environment.
• Proven ability to build professional relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Understanding of manufacturing, packing, import and export processes is advantageous.
• Strong organisational abilities and the capacity to react quickly to change.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Reliable, flexible and resilient attitude.

Required skills

• Proficient use of PC applications for stock and reporting purposes.
