Frontend Engineer & UI Designer (Developer Tooling)

About the role

SearchApi is looking for a builder‑designer hybrid who can make a developer‑facing product feel premium. You will design in Figma and ship the implementation yourself using Hotwire, ensuring every interaction is smooth and performant.

Key responsibilities

• Take features from Figma mock‑ups to a merged pull request, using ViewComponents, Stimulus controllers and Tailwind CSS.
• Own the dashboard, API playground, documentation and marketing site – the first impression of the product.
• Build and maintain the logged‑in experience (analytics, request history, billing, API keys) while keeping a data‑dense console clean and intuitive.
• Create interactive API playgrounds that let developers see live JSON responses.
• Develop and maintain a coherent component system and honest data visualisations.
• Maintain a native‑HTML‑first approach with Turbo Frames, avoiding unnecessary client‑side state.

Required profile

• Strong eye for design combined with solid front‑end engineering skills.
• Obsessive about performance and pixel‑perfect implementation.
• Comfortable working independently in a small, bootstrapped team.
• Willing to leverage AI tools for rapid iteration while retaining full ownership of the code.
