General Operative

About the role

We are looking for an experienced General Operative to join the Major Works Division of a leading construction company. The role involves supporting site activities across a range of projects in the Greater Dublin Area, ensuring materials and equipment are moved safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Handle and transport materials to and from the warehouse.
• Arrange, collect and deliver supplies to construction sites.
• Move plant, equipment and temporary structures between sites.
• Use power tools and plant as required.
• Carry out manual labour tasks under the Site Manager’s direction.
• Organise servicing of equipment and plant.
• Assist with site setup, including erecting Heras fencing, signage and temporary towers.
• Maintain high standards of site housekeeping.
• Control site access, open/lock sites and coordinate deliveries.
• Perform site administrative duties as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience on construction sites.
• Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting and transporting.
• Strong organisational and communication skills in English.
• Attention to detail and ability to work well in a team.
• Honest, flexible, efficient and self‑motivated.
• Full clean driver’s licence (essential).
• Current Safe Pass (essential).

Required skills

• Operation of power tools and plant equipment.
• CSCS Mobile Access Tower Scaffold training (advantage).
• Manual handling training (preferred).
• Abrasive wheels training (preferred).
