General Operative

About the role

The General Operative supports the safe and efficient daily operation of a waste processing facility. Working within the Operations team, you will handle receipt, processing, and dispatch of various waste streams while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, track and segregate incoming waste streams such as paint waste, batteries and aerosols.
• Process fuel oil and other materials according to operational requirements.
• Load and unload trucks, containers and waste materials safely and efficiently.
• Follow standard operating procedures and the company’s waste licence.
• Complete required paperwork and administrative tasks as directed.
• Adhere to health and safety policies, wear appropriate PPE and report any safety concerns or incidents immediately.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment and report non‑conformances.
• Communicate issues promptly to the Operations Manager or Supervisor.
• Attend plant meetings, training courses and provide support to off‑site operations when needed.
• Maintain vehicles, equipment and PPE in good condition and report loss or damage.

• Can combine hands‑on tasks with basic administrative duties.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to health and safety.
• Flexible and able to support different areas of the business as operational needs change.
