Head of Finance

About the role

The successful candidate will lead a finance function of 10+ professionals within a leading international general insurance group headquartered in Ireland. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Head of Finance will shape the finance operating model, drive reporting, budgeting and strategic projects.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to the Group and regulator.
• Lead the production of management reports, highlighting key financial KPIs and trends for cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Manage financial planning activities including budgeting, projections and re‑forecasting.
• Lead external audit processes for both statutory and regulatory audits.
• Oversee fiscal and tax reporting and ensure compliance with all regulatory obligations.
• Prepare MI pack decks to support committee decision‑making.
• Sponsor finance‑related change projects and monitor progress.
• Prepare annual statutory reports under IFRS.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, ensuring clear career paths and succession planning.
• Manage treasury activities, maintain robust controls and oversee investment activities against the approved strategy.

Required profile

• ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified with at least 10 years post‑qualification experience in insurance, including 5 years in a senior management or head‑of‑function role.
• Strong understanding of regulatory obligations for re/insurance companies.
• Decisive influencer with a collaborative, team‑focused approach.
• Proven ability to prioritize and drive short‑ and long‑term financial goals.
• Natural leader with excellent interpersonal and commercial acumen.
