Head of People & Culture

About the role

Elgin Energy is seeking a Head of People & Culture to lead its people strategy on a 12‑month maternity cover contract. Reporting to the People & Culture Director, you will be responsible for embedding a high‑performance, inclusive and values‑driven culture across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the People & Culture Director in delivering the overall people strategy aligned with business growth.
• Design and execute core initiatives such as workforce planning, employee experience, performance management and succession planning.
• Act as a strategic partner to the senior leadership team, advising on organisational design, capability building and change management.
• Manage compensation and benefits frameworks, ensuring competitiveness, fairness and legal compliance.
• Provide expert guidance on employee relations, grievances, disputes and disciplinary actions.
• Lead culture programmes that promote inclusion, equity and psychological safety.
• Oversee change‑management communications and support workforce transitions during restructures or growth phases.
• Develop, mentor and grow the HR team, aligning its structure with the company’s scale and ambitions.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience, preferably in a fast‑growing, values‑led organisation.
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation and best‑practice HR processes.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leaders and influence organisational change.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder‑management and people‑development skills.

Required skills

• Expertise in compensation and benefits design.
• Experience with employee relations and grievance handling.
• Ability to lead organisational development and culture‑change initiatives.
