Hedge Accounting Manager

About the role

PTSB, one of Ireland’s leading retail and SME banks, is seeking a Hedge Accounting Manager to lead its hedge accounting framework within Group Finance. The role will act as the subject‑matter expert on derivatives and IFRS hedge accounting, ensuring accurate recognition, measurement and disclosure across statutory, regulatory and management reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate the bank’s hedge accounting framework, overseeing monthly hedge accounting processes.
• Maintain hedge accounting documentation, designations, risk‑management objectives and effectiveness methodologies.
• Develop and monitor internal controls over documentation, valuation inputs, journal entries and disclosures to meet Group Internal Control requirements.
• Lead engagements with external and internal audit on hedge accounting matters, ensuring timely resolution of queries and remediation actions.
• Coach and develop team members involved in hedge accounting, building expertise within the External Reporting team.
• Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Regulatory Reporting, Risk and senior management to embed hedge accounting considerations into decision‑making and planning.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with relevant post‑qualification experience.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, with demonstrable experience in hedge accounting and derivatives.
• Solid understanding of best‑practice financial processes and systems.
• Self‑starter, highly motivated and able to work under pressure to strict deadlines.
• Team‑oriented with strong attention to detail.
