Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist

About the role
The Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist will lead, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services for a defined patient population or clinical specialty within NHS Lanarkshire. Working closely with the Hospital Pharmacy Manager and senior pharmacy leadership, the post holder ensures safe, effective and cost‑efficient use of medicines across acute and primary care settings.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to or treated within the assigned directorate.
- Develop service objectives in partnership with pharmacy and clinical leadership.
- Monitor and evaluate service performance against set targets.
- Act as a role model, delivering a consistently high‑quality pharmaceutical service.
- Prioritise clinical interventions to optimise therapeutic outcomes and reduce toxicity.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Pharmacy.
- Registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Commitment to Continuing Professional Development as required by the GPhC.
- Ability to monitor patient therapeutic regimens for effectiveness and safety.
