Hire Controller – Equipment Rental

About the role

We are looking for a Hire Controller to join our equipment rental business in Belfast. The role involves building customer relationships, processing rental orders, and supporting the day‑to‑day operation of our busy trade counter.

Key responsibilities

• Build customer relations by phone and in person.
• Process rental orders, handle payments and manage associated paperwork.
• Contribute to the day‑to‑day running of a busy trade counter.
• Advise customers on proper equipment use and demonstrate operation when required.
• Retail sales and merchandising, ensuring full stock of products.
• Liaise with the transport team to secure equipment availability and timely deliveries.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
• Ensure delivery contracts are signed and returned.
• Contact customers about delivery/collection details.
• Handle general transport administration tasks.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of tools and small plant equipment.
• Good organisational skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and strong customer‑service focus.
• Proactive ownership of tasks and pride in work.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced office.

• Working hours: Mon‑Thu 7:30‑17:00, Fri 7:30‑16:00, one Saturday every four weeks 7:45‑12:00.
