Indirect Tax Compliance Specialist

About the role

Primark is looking for an Indirect Tax Compliance Specialist to join its finance team. You will ensure accurate and timely indirect tax filings across multiple markets while supporting strategic tax projects and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare and review indirect tax and statistical returns for several international jurisdictions, ensuring accurate filings, payments and refunds.
• Manage indirect tax balance‑sheet reconciliations and verify that all related postings are complete, accurate and compliant.
• Partner with external advisors and internal stakeholders to fulfil global indirect tax compliance obligations and support audit activities.
• Contribute to indirect tax projects such as new entity or jurisdiction roll‑outs and ad‑hoc planning or advisory initiatives.
• Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements and operational efficiencies within the tax function.
• Support the Indirect Tax Compliance Manager by leading, developing and mentoring Finance Associates.

Required profile

• Recognised accounting or tax qualification (CTA, ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent preferred).
• Hands‑on experience preparing and reviewing VAT/sales‑tax returns across multiple jurisdictions (US indirect tax experience a plus).
• Strong commercial awareness, analytical capability and detail‑oriented mindset.
• Proven leadership and people‑management experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and project‑management abilities.
