Indirect Tax Manager – VAT & Indirect Tax Lead

About the role

Tirlán, a global food and nutrition co‑operative, is seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to lead its VAT and indirect tax strategy across multiple jurisdictions. The role will be based in Dublin (or Kilkenny) with hybrid working flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of Group VAT compliance, including returns, ESL and Intrastat filings.
• Oversee the transition of the VAT function from the current third‑party provider.
• Maintain VAT control accounts, perform reconciliations and manage risk areas.
• Monitor legislative changes and implement process and control updates.
• Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Legal and Commercial teams to embed VAT compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation and ERP enhancements (SAP S/4 Hana preferred).
• Lead VAT audits and manage relationships with tax authorities.
• Provide VAT input on new products, supply‑chain changes and market entries.
• Handle other indirect tax returns such as Form 46G, RCT and plastic taxes.

Required profile

• AITI qualified (or equivalent) with strong VAT/indirect tax expertise.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on VAT compliance and cross‑border transaction experience.
• Strong understanding of EU VAT Directive principles.
• Proven ability to identify risks, drive process improvements and implement solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence non‑specialist stakeholders.
