Lead AI Engineer – Drive Production AI Systems

About the role

Mastercard’s CNPF Data & AI organisation is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to own the end‑to‑end delivery of applied AI and agentic capabilities across its platforms. This senior individual‑contributor role blends software engineering, machine learning engineering, and applied data science to build production‑grade AI systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hands‑on development of AI and agentic systems from design through production deployment.
• Build and operate ML/AI services, pipelines, and APIs using robust software engineering practices.
• Design and implement model serving, monitoring, evaluation, and retraining capabilities.
• Partner with data scientists to efficiently productionise models and experiments.
• Contribute to data preparation, feature engineering, experimentation, and modelling when needed.
• Drive technical design reviews and mentor engineers and data scientists.
• Ensure AI solutions meet Mastercard standards for performance, reliability, security, and governance.
• Collaborate with platform, security, and infrastructure teams to ship responsibly at scale.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience as an AI engineer, ML engineer, or senior software engineer building production AI systems.
• Solid foundation in software engineering, system design, and distributed systems.
• Proven track record of productionising machine‑learning models and operating them at scale.
