Lecturer – Health Research Methodology (Full‑Time, Permanent)

About the role

The University of Galway invites applications for a full‑time, permanent Lecturer in Health Research Methodology. Based in the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, the post will be situated in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Evidence Science and will support the Discipline of Evidence Science and the Centre for Health Research Methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in health research methods, evidence synthesis and trials methodology.
• Develop and supervise research projects, theses and dissertations.
• Contribute to the Centre for Health Research Methodology’s collaborative networks, including HRB‑Trials Methodology Research Network, Evidence Synthesis Ireland and Cochrane Ireland.
• Engage in scholarly research, publishing in peer‑reviewed journals and securing external funding.
• Participate in college service, curriculum development and academic governance.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in a health‑related discipline with a strong focus on research methodology.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching and supervising students at higher education level.
• Proven record of research in evidence synthesis, systematic reviews or clinical trials.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical partners and research networks.

• Strong analytical and statistical skills relevant to health research.
