Lecturer in BioInnovation (Specific Purpose Contract)

About the role

The University of Galway invites applications for a Lecturer in BioInnovation on a Specific Purpose Contract (type A). The role combines teaching, curriculum development, and research within the BioInnovate Ireland programme and the School of Medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and develop BioInnovation courses for diverse student cohorts, including MSc/PGDip programmes and short‑term training modules.
• Mentor interdisciplinary student teams using the Biodesign methodology and clinical immersion.
• Conduct research aligned with Applied Clinical Artificial Intelligence and health‑technology innovation.
• Collaborate with existing academic staff and industry partners to advance the Ian Quinn Centre for Health Technology Innovation.
• Contribute to curriculum design, assessment, and academic administration.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in Medicine, Medical Technologies, Biomedical Engineering or a closely related Science/Business discipline.
• Qualification in needs‑led innovation or significant experience leading a health‑technology innovation enterprise.
• Proven experience teaching BioInnovation or related subjects to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and ongoing research activity.
