Locum Consultant Neonatologist

About the role

This locum consultant neonatology position provides specialist neonatal care across two leading Irish hospitals. The role is split equally between the National Maternity Hospital and Children’s Health Ireland, each requiring 18.5 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality neonatal intensive care to critically ill newborns.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees.
• Participate in on‑call rotas and emergency neonatal resuscitations.
• Maintain compliance with national clinical guidelines and hospital protocols.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and patient care planning.

Required profile

• Registration as a specialist in Neonatology on the Irish Medical Council Register, OR registration in Paediatrics plus at least two years of certified postgraduate training in neonatology.
• Current, unrestricted medical practising licence in Ireland.
• Demonstrated experience in a neonatal intensive care setting.
