Manufacturing Engineer – API

About the role

AbbVie is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support API manufacturing at its Manorhamilton Road site in Sligo. The role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient production while driving continuous improvement and technical problem‑solving.

Key responsibilities

• Support API manufacturing projects in line with quality, safety, environmental and operational standards.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, evaluate solutions and implement the most effective approach.
• Lead or support projects, including development of training and cross‑training activities.
• Propose, test and implement process improvements and innovative solutions.
• Maintain high accuracy, compliance and attention to detail in all activities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet site, department and division targets.
• Act as interim Technical Shift Leader when required.

Required profile

• Degree in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in batch processing within an FDA‑ or HPRA‑regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
• Proven problem‑solving abilities, especially under pressure.
• Innovative mindset with a commitment to quality and integrity.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and time‑management skills.
