Manufacturing Engineer – Automation & Process Improvement

About the role

Sanmina’s Fermoy facility is a leading manufacturer of high‑quality medical devices and electronic assemblies. The Manufacturing Engineer will support production lines, drive process improvements, and ensure equipment performance in a regulated, high‑volume environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor machine performance in real time to maximise output and meet daily/weekly targets.
• Specify, install, and support production equipment, including robotics, PLCs and pneumatics.
• Lead preventive maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maximise yield.
• Conduct root‑cause investigations for line and quality issues.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles.
• Assist with new product introductions and provide DFM input.
• Perform process capability analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, health and safety requirements.

Required profile

• NFQ Level 8 degree in Engineering (Electronic, Mechanical, Industrial) or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a regulated high‑volume manufacturing environment, preferably medical devices.
• Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with automation technologies such as robotics, PLCs and pneumatics.
• Lean practice implementation experience and attention to detail in documentation.
