Manufacturing Technician – Production & Maintenance

About the role

Abbott’s Diagnostic Division in Longford is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to operate and maintain critical plant, utilities and equipment in a clean‑room environment. The role supports production of diagnostic tests for infectious disease, cancer, thyroid and cardiovascular health.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain critical plant, utilities, and equipment to maximise availability.
• Perform daily preventative and demand maintenance activities.
• Oversee maintenance of Clean‑in‑Place (CIP) process skids and related equipment.
• Coordinate and supervise external contractors for maintenance and breakdown services.
• Troubleshoot, fault‑find and resolve equipment and plant system issues.
• Contribute to the Energy Management Programme and support initiatives to reduce energy usage and costs.
• Ensure compliance with legal, divisional and corporate standards.
• Communicate effectively with plant management, corporate teams and engineering.

Required profile

• Relevant third‑level qualification in engineering, manufacturing or a related discipline.

Required skills

• Clean‑in‑Place (CIP) process skids operation and maintenance.
• Understanding of cleanroom HVAC systems.
• Preventative maintenance techniques.
• Equipment troubleshooting and fault‑finding.
• Energy management awareness.
