Material Planner

About the role

Hiab is seeking a Material Planner to ensure material availability aligns with the master production schedule. Based in Dundalk, you will manage the lifecycle of raw components from demand forecasting through delivery, helping to prevent production downtime and excess inventory.

Key responsibilities

• Assess demand signals by reviewing sales orders, customer trends and forecasts to set appropriate stock levels.
• Use ERP tools within the SAP/LND environment to calculate and review procurement requirements.
• Initiate purchase orders and coordinate replenishment actions to meet manufacturing targets.
• Adjust deliveries in response to design changes or production line modifications.
• Maintain optimal supply levels by balancing safety stock against turnover goals.
• Monitor materials at risk of obsolescence and flag financial exposure.
• Support physical verification and cycle counting with logistics teams.
• Provide rolling delivery forecasts to suppliers to sustain consistent material flow.
• Track supply‑chain commitments, identify disruptions and follow escalation procedures.
• Analyze supplier performance against arrival benchmarks and work with transport partners to reduce expedited freight costs.

Required profile

• Degree in a business or material‑planning discipline preferred; extensive relevant experience also considered.
• Several years of production, purchasing or line‑supply experience.
• Logistics or warehouse management background.
• Strong data interpretation skills and ability to work with complex production spreadsheets.
• Proven ability to resolve vendor cancellations and rapid demand shifts.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with technical teams and international suppliers.
