Mechanical Engineer – CAD Design for Lab Equipment

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with strong CAD design experience to support the development, modification, and maintenance of laboratory equipment, fixtures, and test systems. The role works closely with scientists, technicians, and cross‑functional engineering teams to create and improve mechanical components used in research and testing environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and laboratory fixtures using CAD software.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
• Develop prototypes and support testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff to understand equipment requirements and improve functionality.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and participate in design reviews.
• Coordinate with suppliers and machine shops for fabrication and procurement of components.
• Ensure designs comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Proven proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or CATIA.
• Experience creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to solve problems and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
