Neurodiversity Nurse Specialist

About the role

Sunbeam House Services is seeking a Neurodiversity Nurse Specialist to lead the development of compassionate, neuro‑affirmative care for individuals with autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences. This position goes beyond clinical duties, offering the chance to shape service delivery, influence policy and drive innovation across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessments, care planning and clinical guidance for complex neurodevelopmental cases.
• Champion neuro‑affirmative, trauma‑informed and person‑centred practice throughout the service.
• Develop and implement consistent care pathways to improve outcomes.
• Support smooth transitions for service users across life stages and settings.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, offering support to staff, families and external partners.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives and promote best practice across the organisation.

Required profile

• Registered nurse with experience in intellectual disability, mental health, disability or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of autism, ADHD and broader neurodiversity.
• Proven experience in complex case management and multidisciplinary team working.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem‑solving abilities.
• Passion for improving services and empowering neurodiverse individuals.
• Desirable: additional training in neurodevelopmental practice, trauma‑informed care or service development.
