Operations Technician – Power Station

About the role

The Operations Technician ensures safe and efficient operation of a power station, responding to grid demands and contractual obligations. Working across the field, permit office, and central control room, you will monitor plant performance and support maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the Distributed Control System (DCS), HMI, and Continuous Emissions Monitoring equipment.
• Maintain compliance with quality, EHS, and customer PPA limits.
• Identify and correct variances in station operating parameters from the control room or field.
• Conduct field rounds, routine interventions, and support equipment testing.
• Follow grid dispatch instructions and report items beyond shift capabilities to the Shift Supervisor.
• Update routines, schedules, and reports with plant operating data.
• Record equipment deficiencies in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and assist with Permit to Work and LOTO processes.

Required profile

• Practical Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent trade experience.
• Fluent in English and the local language, both written and spoken.
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and make critical decisions under pressure.
• Willingness to work rotating hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.
