Packaging Developer – Innovation & Sustainability

About the role

As a Packaging Developer you will drive Nomad Foods' Packaging Strategy, focusing on innovation, renovation, sustainability and value creation. You will work closely with supply units, copackers and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective packaging solutions that meet brand and factory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead packaging development projects across supply units and copackers, ensuring on‑time delivery and alignment with critical paths.
• Represent the RDQ Packaging function in cross‑functional teams to deliver innovations, renovations, value‑creation and sustainability initiatives.
• Manage technical documentation, including specifications, packaging BOMs, pallet configurations and approval workflows.
• Plan, execute and report on line, packing, transit and storage trials, including data validation and risk assessments.
• Support troubleshooting of material, machinery and supply‑chain issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure packaging compliance with internal policies, the Packaging Code of Practice, legal requirements and local regulations.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Materials Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or at least 2 years of FMCG packaging development experience.
• Diploma in Packaging Technology or equivalent is highly beneficial.
• Strong understanding of local packaging regulations and legal requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Required skills

• Expertise in packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of supply‑chain dynamics for packaging components.
• Experience with technical documentation such as specifications, BOMs and approval workflows.
• Ability to conduct and analyse packaging trials and risk assessments.
• Familiarity with packaging regulations and compliance standards.
