About the role

Shannon College of Hotel Management, a school of the University of Galway, seeks a part‑time Lecturer in Information Technology (0.2 FTE, term‑time) on a specific‑purpose contract of approximately one year. The role involves delivering IT education to undergraduate hotel‑management students and postgraduate business and hospitality programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and assess Information Technology modules across undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
• Provide student mentoring, support scholarship activities and contribute to research initiatives.
• Assist with administrative duties and the development of the IT discipline within the school.
• Collaborate with academic staff to ensure high‑quality teaching and curriculum relevance.

Required profile

• PhD or professional qualification in a relevant IT field, or evidence of significant contribution to the area.
• Relevant teaching or industry experience in IT, preferably within business or hospitality contexts.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility.
