About the role

The Pharmacist Advanced Specialist – Medication Safety will join the pharmacy team at Our Lady’s Hospital Navan. This permanent, full‑time position focuses on safeguarding medication use and supporting high‑quality pharmacy services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate medication safety initiatives across the hospital.
• Develop, implement and review safety protocols, guidelines and risk‑assessment tools.
• Provide specialist advice to clinical teams on safe prescribing, dispensing and administration practices.
• Analyse medication‑related incidents and drive continuous improvement actions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote a culture of safety.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with full professional qualification.
• Significant experience in medication safety or a related advanced pharmacy specialty.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead safety projects.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with clinical and administrative staff.
