Practice Nurse – Student Health Service

About the role

Maynooth University is seeking an enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join its Student Health Service on a part‑time, 0.5 FTE basis. The role supports the health and well‑being of registered students from Maynooth University and Saint Patricks Pontifical University, delivering both treatment and preventative care while leading health‑promotion activities on campus.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, treatment, and health advice to students.
• Deliver preventative services such as vaccinations, health screenings, and health‑promotion programmes.
• Participate in health‑promotion campaigns and educational activities across the university.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with university and public‑sector health regulations.
• Be available for on‑call duties during examination periods (May, August, January), including occasional weekend work.

Required profile

• Registered nurse qualified to practice in Ireland.
• Experience working in a primary‑care or student health setting is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to work outside normal office hours during critical periods.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and nursing intervention skills.
• Vaccination administration.
• Health education and promotion.

What we offer

• Pro‑rated salary range €47,387 – €67,129 per annum (2026 Administrative Officer II scale).
