Preconstruction Manager – Solar PV

About the role

We are seeking a Pre‑Construction Manager to lead solar PV projects from early design through to construction hand‑over. Based in Cork with hybrid working, you will ensure all technical, planning and commercial elements are aligned for a smooth transition to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept design to construction hand‑over, coordinating design, planning, grid interface and commercial inputs.
• Manage the design development process up to the Issued for Construction (IFC) stage.
• Track planning permissions, permits and statutory approvals.
• Collaborate with internal engineering, commercial, legal and H&S teams.
• Oversee external consultants, utilities and design partners.
• Develop and maintain programmes covering design, permitting and procurement.
• Prepare pre‑construction health & safety documentation and ensure alignment with site delivery.
• Support bid preparation with design assumptions, risk assessments and constraints.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
• Typically 5+ years of experience in pre‑construction, design or project management within energy, renewables or infrastructure.
• Backgrounds may include Pre‑Construction Manager, Design Manager, Project Manager or Engineer.
• Experience in solar PV or similar renewable projects is preferred.
• Strong understanding of design coordination, permitting and construction readiness.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.

Required skills

• Proficiency with programming tools such as MS Project or similar.
