About the role

The School of History and Geography at Dublin City University seeks an internationally recognised scholar to lead research and teaching in Early Modern Irish History. This permanent professorship offers the opportunity to shape the department’s strategic direction and enhance its research impact.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality, peer‑reviewed research in Early Modern Irish History.
• Secure and manage research funding, lead projects, and supervise postgraduate and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Deliver undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses, develop curricula, and contribute to programme administration.
• Engage with external partners, disseminate research findings, and raise the university’s profile nationally and internationally.
• Participate in collective leadership across the School, Faculty, and University.

Required profile

• Established international reputation in Early Modern Irish History.
• Strong record of scholarly publications and successful grant acquisition.
• Experience in supervising research students and leading research teams.
