R&D Tax Manager

About the role

As an R&D Tax Manager based in Dublin, you will lead the delivery of Research & Development tax credit claims for a varied client portfolio. The position combines technical execution, project oversight and mentorship of junior staff within a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end preparation and submission of R&D tax credit claims, ensuring compliance with Irish Revenue guidelines.
• Conduct detailed technical interviews with engineers, scientists and developers to identify qualifying activities.
• Oversee calculation of eligible expenditures, including staff costs, consumables, overheads and subcontractors.
• Review technical project descriptions and financial schedules produced by Associates and Seniors.
• Serve as primary client contact throughout the claim process, managing timelines and expectations.
• Support Directors in responding to Revenue interventions or queries, providing documentation and technical justification.
• Coach junior staff on Irish R&D tax legislation and sector‑specific nuances.
• Manage project budgets, work‑in‑progress and billing to meet commercial targets.
• Identify additional service opportunities such as Knowledge Development Box, IP planning or grant claims and assist in proposal preparation.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualification.
• 3–5 years of corporate tax experience, with at least 2 years focused on R&D tax credits in Ireland.
• Background in science or engineering is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Technical writing – translating complex engineering concepts into tax‑friendly reports.
• Financial modeling and data analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
