Recovery Staff Nurse – Sports Surgery Clinic

About the role

The Recovery Staff Nurse provides patient‑centred care in the pre‑operative and post‑operative areas of the Sports Surgery Clinic. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the nurse ensures safe recovery, supports patients and families, and upholds the clinic’s ethos of high‑quality, accountable care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to patients in pre‑operative and post‑operative recovery areas, maintaining the highest standards of safety and comfort.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and visitors, providing information and support as needed.
• Coordinate with the Director of Nursing and Clinical Nurse Managers to manage consumables, equipment, and staffing resources.
• Participate in accreditation programmes, continuous quality improvement initiatives, and audit activities.
• Ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety, fire, and statutory regulations, including controlled‑drug custody.
• Document and report incidents, near‑misses, and audit findings in line with clinic policies.
• Facilitate change management and service development planning for the department.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in surgical recovery or similar settings.
• Commitment to the ethos and philosophy of a sports surgery clinic.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to engage in continuous learning, quality improvement, and professional development.
