Registrar – Emergency Medicine (Wexford General Hospital)

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Registrar in Emergency Medicine to join the team at Wexford General Hospital. The position is advertised by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and is open to both HSE and non‑HSE applicants. This role offers the opportunity to work in a busy emergency department, delivering acute care to patients and further developing specialist skills within the Irish health system. The role is a whole‑time post with a specified purpose within the HSE.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage patients presenting with urgent and emergency conditions.
• Participate in the department’s on‑call rota and provide timely emergency interventions.
• Collaborate with consultants, nursing staff and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Contribute to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff as part of the training environment.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent).
• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
• Proven experience working within the Irish or UK medical system.
• English language proficiency demonstrated by IELTS or OET.
