About the role

The Registrar in Obstetrics & Gynaecology joins a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality medical care under the supervision of a Consultant or Clinical Director. This position is part of the NCHD (Non‑Consultant Hospital Doctor) training pathway in Ireland and involves both clinical and educational responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Participate as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team in the provision of medical care to patients.
• Diagnose and treat obstetric and gynaecological patients, ensuring safety and well‑being.
• Assess patients on admission and discharge, write detailed case notes, and order/interpret diagnostic tests.
• Initiate and monitor treatment plans, communicating effectively with patients and their families.
• Continuously develop knowledge of diagnosis and management in obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Participate in clinical audit, proactive risk management, and provide required data.
• Co‑operate with arrangements to meet contractual commitments and comply with the European Working Time Directive and Irish legislation.
• Assist with investigations, enquiries, or audits related to health service provision.
• Adhere to statutory, regulatory, corporate, and HR policies, including Dignity at Work and Flexible Working schemes.
• Attend mandatory NCHD induction training (paid during employment).
• Perform other duties as required by the supervising Consultant or Clinical Director.

Required profile

• Medical graduate registered with the Irish Medical Council and eligible for NCHD training.
• Commitment to patient safety, ethical conduct, and continuous professional development.
• Willingness to work under supervision and engage in regular performance reviews.
• Ability to comply with Irish medical regulations, European Working Time Directive, and hospital policies.
