Respiratory Registrar – General Medicine (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Portiuncula University Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Registrar to join its General Medicine Department on a fixed‑term basis from 11 May 2026 to 16 August 2026. The role involves delivering high‑quality respiratory care within a busy acute hospital serving East Galway and surrounding counties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and emergency respiratory medicine services, including ward rounds and acute assessments.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient management plans.
• Deliver teaching and mentorship to junior doctors and medical students.
• Engage in weekly structured teaching sessions, MRCP preparation, and simulation‑based training.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to hospital protocols.

Required profile

• Active registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Minimum three years of experience in respiratory medicine.
• Successful completion of all relevant membership examinations.
• Previous clinical experience in Ireland is desirable.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Valid OET/IELTS results where applicable.
