Risk Analyst

About the role

eBay is seeking a Risk Analyst to drive data‑informed decisions across its risk ecosystem, covering buyer and seller risk, fraud prevention, payments, and shipping‑related risks. You will own complex problems from discovery through implementation, using large datasets to uncover patterns and protect the platform while supporting growth.

Key responsibilities

• Identify risk gaps and design scalable solutions end‑to‑end.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to detect emerging risks and anomalies.
• Collaborate with Risk Policy teams, Data Scientists, and cross‑functional partners to optimize risk strategies.
• Present insights, recommendations, and trade‑offs to both business and technical audiences.
• Implement advanced monitoring, detection, and continuous‑improvement methods using AI/ML.

Required profile

• Proven ability to independently solve complex problems and deliver measurable impact.
• Strong experience in data analysis on large‑scale datasets.
• Capability to translate ambiguous business challenges into structured analytical approaches.
• Solid understanding of risk domains such as fraud, abuse, buyer/seller behavior, payments, or operational risk.
• Excellent communication skills in English, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL for data manipulation and optimization.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, or ETL workflows.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Grafana).
• Use of AI/ML‑based tools or signals for monitoring and anomaly detection.
