Senior Audit Manager / Director – SME & Owner‑Managed Business

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Senior Audit Manager/Director to lead audits for SME and owner‑managed businesses. This role sits within a top‑10 professional services firm in Dublin and offers the chance to step up from a small‑medium practice to a high‑growth environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME and owner‑managed business audits from planning through completion, tailoring the audit approach to private, entrepreneurial companies.
• Provide direct advisory to business owners and directors, resolving accounting issues with clear, practical guidance.
• Act as the primary client contact, building relationships with founders, management teams, and external stakeholders such as banks.
• Collaborate across internal specialist teams to address broader business needs, including tax planning, corporate finance, and succession planning.
• Own engagement economics, overseeing budgets, staffing, and timelines to ensure profitable delivery.
• Mentor and coach managers and senior audit staff, supporting their technical development and client‑relationship skills.
• Promote the use of cloud accounting tools and modern workflows to streamline audit processes.

Required profile

• Audit experience within a small‑medium sized practice environment (preferred).
• Passion for delivering an excellent client experience.
• Strong technical attention to detail.
• Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Motivated team player with a proactive approach.
• Typically 5+ years post‑qualification experience.
