Senior Audit Manager / Director – SME & Owner‑Managed Business

About the role

We are partnering with a top‑10 professional services firm in Dublin to recruit a Senior Audit Manager/Director. The role leads audit engagements for small‑medium enterprises and owner‑managed businesses, acting as the primary advisor to founders and senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME and owner‑managed business audits from planning through completion, tailoring the audit approach to private, entrepreneurial companies.
• Provide direct advisory support to business owners and directors, resolving accounting issues with clear, practical guidance.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, building strong relationships with founders, management teams, banks and lenders.
• Collaborate across internal specialist teams to identify broader business needs such as tax planning, corporate finance, or succession planning.
• Own engagement economics, including budget management, staff resourcing and timeline tracking to ensure profitable delivery.
• Mentor and coach managers and senior audit staff, fostering technical growth and confidence in client relationship management.
• Promote the use of cloud accounting tools and modern workflows to streamline audit processes and minimise disruption for client finance teams.

Required profile

• Audit experience in a small‑medium sized practice environment (preferred).
• Passion for delivering an excellent client experience.
• Strong technical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Clear and confident verbal and written communication abilities.
• Motivated, effective team player with a proactive approach.
• Typically 5+ years post‑qualification experience.
