Senior Backend Engineer, Booking Platform

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build high-performance booking services for a global SaaS platform. The role is fully remote and focuses on modernising a monolithic architecture into scalable, API-driven micro-services that power guest-facing experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using PHP and Go.
• Lead the extraction of services from a monolithic system, defining ownership, migration strategies and resilient architectures.
• Collaborate with product, design and frontend teams to deliver features that improve booking conversion and usability.
• Build and maintain clean APIs (REST, GraphQL) for traditional and AI-driven integrations.
• Optimise system performance, reliability and uptime for high‑traffic booking flows.
• Participate in architectural planning and technical decision-making for long‑term scalability.
• Leverage AI-powered development tools to accelerate delivery and maintain engineering standards.

Required profile

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with strong software fundamentals.
• Proven experience delivering production-grade applications in PHP and ability to work with Go.
• Track record of building and operating high‑traffic, customer‑facing systems.
• Experience decomposing monoliths into service-oriented or distributed architectures.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude, Cursor or Copilot.
• Background in product-oriented SaaS environments and cross-functional collaboration.
