Senior Backend Engineer – Enterprise Platform

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high‑scale enterprise platform team in Ireland. You will design, build, and evolve distributed services that enable secure, reliable, and compliant experiences for some of the world’s largest organizations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain distributed backend services supporting enterprise customers at scale.
• Own the full lifecycle of production systems, including deployment, monitoring, incident response and continuous reliability improvements.
• Translate complex business, security and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Break down large, ambiguous initiatives into structured, iterative deliverables across multiple teams.
• Build and enhance systems for security, access control, data handling, multi‑tenancy and compliance.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, security and legal partners.
• Define and track system health metrics using observability tools.
• Contribute to architectural decisions for long‑term platform evolution.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with senior‑level responsibility in backend roles.
• Proven experience operating production systems, including observability, incident management and reliability engineering.
• Background in enterprise‑grade system development, security, compliance or data governance.
• Strong understanding of scalable architecture principles and long‑term system design.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical projects is a strong advantage.
