Senior Cloud Database Engineer II

About the role

Join the Database Engineering team at LexisNexis Risk Solutions to ensure the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of cloud data platforms that support business‑critical and customer‑facing applications.

Key responsibilities

• Create monitoring queries and establish service‑level baselines for critical database services.
• Design and implement solutions that improve availability, fault tolerance, and recoverability across AWS database platforms.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, assist in major production incident recovery, and act as a senior escalation point.
• Plan and execute failover testing within and between AWS regions.
• Automate recovery of systems and components using Infrastructure‑as‑Code and configuration management.
• Implement automation in production to reduce manual effort and operational toil.
• Design and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions, including reusable code‑defined dashboards.
• Contribute to post‑mortems, root cause analyses, reliability documentation, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience operating managed cloud database services such as Aurora MySQL, Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift, Amazon DynamoDB, or Amazon ElastiCache.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in database design, optimization, troubleshooting, schema design, query tuning, indexing, and performance bottlenecks.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or comparable languages.
• Experience designing and implementing monitoring and observability solutions.
• Solid understanding of high availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery concepts.
• Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (CloudFormation or Terraform) and CI/CD practices for database change management.
