Senior Director, Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT)

About the role

This senior leadership position will create and head a brand‑new Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) function for a global pharmaceutical company. Reporting to the VP of Technical Operations, you will shape the strategy that links Pharmaceutical Development with Commercial Manufacturing across a worldwide network.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead a new MSAT function, building a high‑performing technical team.
• Serve as the technical bridge between Development and Commercial Manufacturing.
• Lead technology transfer, process validation, PPQ, scale‑up and commercialisation projects.
• Develop process‑science standards, lifecycle‑management strategies and data‑driven performance metrics.
• Drive process optimisation, manufacturing robustness and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Development, Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory to support product launches and lifecycle management.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in MSAT, Technical Operations, Process Development or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
• Proven track record building or transforming an MSAT function in a pharma environment.
• Extensive experience supporting commercial products at internal sites and with CMOs/CDMOs.
• Demonstrated success leading technology transfer, validation, PPQ, scale‑up and commercialisation programmes.
• Strategic leadership with a hands‑on execution mindset.
