Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

EirGrid plc is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join its Group Internal Audit team. The role supports the Internal Audit Lead and Head of Internal Audit in delivering the annual audit plan, ensuring robust internal controls and effective risk management across the electricity grid operator.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and complete audit reviews in line with the Internal Audit Plan.
• Prepare detailed working papers and draft concise audit reports, obtaining management responses before finalisation.
• Provide insights, challenge existing controls constructively, and ensure timely implementation of recommendations.
• Perform assurance activities to verify that action plans are effective and operating as intended.
• Assist in preparing Committee papers and communications for the Audit and Risk Committee.
• Build strong professional relationships with auditee areas and promote strong internal controls across the Group.
• Liaise with external auditors as required.

Required profile

• Member of a recognised Accounting Body or a qualified Internal Auditor.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in internal audit, including planning, coordinating and delivering audit plans.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical, technical and commercial acumen.
• Ability to challenge management constructively and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable interacting with middle and senior management and acting professionally and ethically at all times.
