Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

EirGrid plc is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join its Group Internal Audit team. The role supports the Internal Audit Lead and Head of Internal Audit in delivering the annual audit plan, providing independent assurance on risk management, governance and internal controls across the electricity grid organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and complete audit reviews throughout the EirGrid Group in line with the approved audit plan.
• Prepare detailed working papers, draft clear reports and obtain management responses before finalisation.
• Provide insights, challenge existing controls and recommend improvements.
• Ensure audit assignments are delivered within defined time‑frames.
• Work with auditees to address issues and implement recommendations promptly.
• Perform follow‑up assurance activities to verify that action plans are effective.
• Assist in preparing committee papers and related communications.
• Build strong professional relationships with audit clients and promote robust internal controls.
• Liaise with external auditors as required.

Required profile

• Member of a recognised accounting body or a qualified internal auditor.
• Minimum three years of internal audit experience, including planning, coordinating and delivering audit programmes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and commercial acumen.
• Ability to challenge management constructively and drive improvement.
