Senior Mining Engineer

About the role

The Senior Mining Engineer will lead mine engineering and planning activities at the Simberi open‑cut operation in Papua New Guinea, ensuring short‑ and medium‑term plans are optimised and aligned with business strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise mining engineers across short‑term planning, production, drill & blast, medium‑term planning and project engineering.
• Produce and communicate two‑weekly short‑term mine plans, monitor compliance and track production data.
• Develop accurate drill‑and‑blast designs, schedules and QA/QC processes that integrate with overall mine plans.
• Create, implement and manage 13‑week medium‑term mine plans, pit designs and major project coordination.
• Provide input for long‑term strategic planning, budgeting and reserve reporting.

Required profile

• Current unencumbered PNG ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence and recent PNG National Police Clearance.
• Minimum eight years’ experience in open‑pit mining, with proven leadership of technical teams.
• Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills.
• Behaviour aligned with New Simberi Gold values.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mine design, drill‑and‑blast and scheduling software (Deswik, Datamine, Alastri preferred).
• Experience in short‑, medium‑ and long‑term mine planning, forecasting and budgeting.
• Knowledge of PNG Mine Safety Act and regulations.
