Senior Staff Nurse

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Staff Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team at Abbot Close Care Centre in Askeaton, Co Limerick. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality gerontological care to residents, with flexibility to work both day and night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and review individual care plans for each resident, reporting any health changes to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Manager and multidisciplinary team to develop, audit, and update resident care plans.
• Maintain a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.
• Ensure timely completion of assessments and compliance with care‑plan documentation.
• Lead orientation and mentorship of new staff on duty.
• Participate in quality and safety management systems, including audits and continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) register.
• Minimum three years post‑graduate nursing experience, including at least one year in older‑person care.
• Evidence of continuous professional development; postgraduate diploma in Gerontology is desirable.
• In‑depth knowledge of the ageing process and experience in psychogeriatric or dementia care is an advantage.
