Social Care Assistant – Residential Services

About the role

The Social Care Assistant will work within residential services to support adults with intellectual disabilities, helping them achieve personal goals and maintain a high quality of life. This position involves day, night and weekend shifts and may require travel between locations.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and evaluate each individual's Individual Support Plan.
• Prepare healthy, nutritious meals and support personal care activities.
• Assist with complex behaviours using positive behaviour support plans.
• Coordinate access to healthcare professionals and ensure health needs are met.
• Promote housekeeping tasks while maintaining hygiene standards.
• Communicate effectively with families and involve them in care decisions.
• Drive Kare vehicles to transport service users as needed.

Required profile

• Level 5 qualification in Intellectual Disability Practice, Social Care or Community Support (minimum three modules, including Intellectual Disability).
• Full, clean manual Irish driving licence.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland without sponsorship.
• Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours and using positive behaviour support plans.
• Strong communication, teamwork and organisational abilities.

Required skills

• Use of assistive technology for communication and daily tasks.
