Software Engineer (Backend Java)

About the role

This position is for a Software Engineer based in Ireland, working within a collaborative engineering team to design, develop, and improve innovative software solutions. You will be involved across the full software development lifecycle, focusing on reliable, scalable, and efficient backend applications that meet business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend systems and APIs using modern Java technologies.
• Build scalable and robust services that satisfy performance, reliability, and business requirements.
• Participate in test‑driven and iterative development processes, including prototyping, code reviews, and technical reviews.
• Create and execute unit and performance tests to ensure application stability and scalability.
• Debug, optimise, and refactor code to uphold high‑quality software standards.
• Produce technical documentation, diagrams, and flowcharts to support knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• 1 to 3 years of professional experience in software engineering or a similar development role.
• Strong foundation in Java‑based technologies and server‑side web application development.
• Passion for building reliable software, learning new technologies, and effective teamwork.
