Software Engineer – Java, Spring Boot, Microservices (Remote, Ireland)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join a tech‑focused organisation in Ireland. The role is fully remote and involves building reliable, scalable systems that support high‑traffic applications across the entire product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end features using Java, Spring Boot and micro‑services patterns.
• Improve system reliability, scalability, performance and efficiency.
• Monitor production environments, resolve incidents and help prevent recurrence.
• Contribute to architectural discussions for distributed, highly available services.
• Support performance optimisation, capacity planning and automation initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with other engineers to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 3‑5+ years of software development experience with strong Java expertise.
• Deep understanding of micro‑services, data structures and concurrency programming.
• Experience with distributed messaging, RPC frameworks and containerised environments.
• Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket, Maven, Jenkins CI/CD, Jira and Confluence.
• Clean, maintainable coding style and a structured problem‑solving mindset.
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment.
